Humans pride themselves on being unique. We build cathedrals and computers, we write poetry and code, we split atoms and splice genes. But we are still primates. Our closest living relatives, chimpanzees and bonobos, offer a mirror into alternative paths. One side reflects aggression, hierarchy, and male dominance; the other reflects peace, female solidarity, and sex as social glue.
